Rod Fiester MCHS Music Department Chair
Rod Fiester is the Class Supervisor for the Grizzly Band, as well as leader of the MCHS Chorus and the Mariposa Community Chorus as well as instructor of the Elementary and Middle School Instrumental Music Programs for the Mariposa County Unified School District. He is the son of one of the most noted and beloved instructors at MCHS, Richard Fiester (for whom the auditorium is named). The elder Fiester was band director and choir leader at MCHS for over two decades.
Rod served with the U.S. Army in Europe, and later graduated from Fresno State with a degree in Music Education. In over two decades at MCHS, Rod has served as choir director, band director and served as musical director for numerous stage-musicals. He is also the long-time director of the Community Chorus and has taught music-theory classes for Merced College.
In his time at MCHS, in addition to his musical instruction, he has taught history and economics. Since 2008, he has served as class-supervisor of the Grizzly Band.
Rod Fiester is the MCHS Music Department Chair, devoting countless hours to not only the MCHS band and color guard, but he also directing the MCHS choir.
